Ride for Your Life Memorial Event

Join the "Bike Ride for Magnus: Ride for Your Life" memorial event August 11, 2024. This important bicycling event is being organized in honor of the memory of Magnus White, a competitive, 17-year old, US cyclist, who was hit and killed while riding last summer. This special event will not only commemorate his life and passion for cycling, but highlight the imperative for safer cycling infrastructure across the nation.

Event Details: When and Where

Date: August 11, 2024

Time: Start at 10:00 AM

Starting and Ending Location: Farrand Field on the CU Boulder Campus

Route: The ride will follow a route along Folsom to Jay Road, and then on to Colorado State Highway 119 (CO 119), leading to the site where Magnus was killed; at that location, there will be a special memorial in his honor. The entire westbound lanes of CO 119 will be closed to vehicle traffic, ensuring a safe journey for all participants.

The cycling route spans 13.5 miles and features minimal elevation change. Additionally, for those nationwide wishing to join, a virtual ride option will be available.

The Ride: What to Expect

Open to All: Cyclists of all ages and abilities are welcome. Whether you are a seasoned road warrior or a weekend pedaler, your participation is important. There will be several pace groups, ensuring everyone can ride comfortably and safely.

Safety First: Local law enforcement will secure roads and provide support vehicles to ensure every participant's safety. Helmets are mandatory for all riders.

Post-Ride Gathering: Riders will then return to Farrand Field for a rally that will introduce legislative efforts spearheaded by The White Line that articulate a strong call to action in support of cycler safety.

How You Can Support

Register to Ride: Sign up to participate in the Bike Ride for Magnus. Registration fees will go directly toward cycling safety projects and maintenance of local cycling lanes.

Donate: If you cannot join the ride, consider making a donation to the Magnus Memorial Fund for Cycling Safety, which supports initiatives to create safer road conditions for cyclists.

Volunteer: Volunteers are needed to help on the day of the event—from manning rest stops to providing ride support. It is a great way for those who are not riding  to contribute.

Why It Matters

This event is not just a ride; it is a movement. By coming together to celebrate Magnus’s life and advocate for what he believed in, change can happen. With every pedal stroke and every dollar raised, the world will move closer to improving cyclist safety on the road.
